Lantern Festival is the celebration of the start of the Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year, usually known as the Spring Festival in modern China, is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. It is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia.
What does it mean for the shipping industry?
The holiday period is usually from 4th February to 10th February 2019, but most workers from outside cities take at least a 30-day holiday to spend time with their families.
Right before the New Year holidays, there will be a shortage of workers, especially for the truckers, resulting in a very limited trucking service for shipping containers. All bookings should be arranged ahead of time, to plan accordingly.
