There is no doubt that 2020 was a challenging year for mankind throughout the world. It’s a year where at times we felt helpless, frustrated, confined and demotivated.
The COVID pandemic has affected all of us in one way or the other. Closer to home, some have lost family, friends, acquaintances from the coronavirus as well as other illnesses. Everyone has their opinion or view on Covid and its severity. Emotions run very high when announcements on restrictions are made by those in authority. But we trust that it’s all for the right reasons and for the benefit of us citizens of beautiful South Africa.
For us a Pioneer Freight, sadly, we lost two valuable employees in the space of two weeks. Robert Bester, our Johannesburg transport manager lost his battle with lung cancer in late November. He was a member of our JNB team for over ten years and played an important role in the day-to-day collections and deliveries as well as Domestic Freight.
Early in December, Christina Carelse, who was one of our Debtors Controllers in Cape Town and part of our organisation for some 12 years, lost her life to Covid. Christina played an integral part in our finance team. She was a quiet and caring lady, who got on with her work and always made sure that deadlines were met. Christina left behind her husband as well as two young kids.

Both Robert and Christina are missed by us colleagues and friends.
In closing, to our valued clients, suppliers, colleagues, friends and family, may 2021 be a special year for us all as we hopefully see our way out of this widespread illness. May you begin the year feeling energised and may the year be filled with hope, excitement, new opportunities, and growth.
We look forward to continuing to be of service to our valued clients.
