Transporting...

Dear Valued Clients and Overseas Partners,

We would like to provide you with an update regarding the fuel surcharge that was introduced on 1 May 2026.

At the time, Pioneer Freight implemented a 15% fuel surcharge in response to the significant increases in diesel prices and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding fuel costs. As communicated then, this measure was intended to help offset the impact of fuel price volatility while allowing us to continue delivering the reliable service our clients expect.

Unfortunately, since the implementation of the surcharge, diesel prices have continued to increase substantially. Based on the official wholesale diesel price, the cost of diesel has risen from approximately R18.42 per litre in January 2026 to around R29.11 per litre currently, an increase of approximately 58%. Based on this increase, an equivalent fuel surcharge would now be approximately 23.7%, meaning that Pioneer Freight has been absorbing an additional 8.7 percentage points of fuel-related costs since June.

We fully appreciate the pressure that rising costs place on all businesses and, for this reason, we have elected to continue absorbing these additional fuel costs rather than pass them on to our clients immediately.

However, should diesel prices remain at current levels, or increase further, by the beginning of October 2026, we may be forced to review and adjust the current fuel surcharge in order to ensure the ongoing sustainability of our transport operations. Should this become necessary, we will provide advance notice and communicate any adjustments as early as possible.

We know that our clients understand that fuel pricing is driven by external market forces entirely outside the control of both Pioneer Freight and our customers. We greatly appreciate your understanding, support, and continued partnership as we collectively navigate these challenging market conditions.

Thank you for your continued trust in Pioneer Freight.

Your trusted partner in Logistics,
Pioneer Freight Team
