Transporting...

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) continue to clamp down on all Importers & Exporters who have not yet completed the RLA (Registration, Licensing & Accreditation) process to renew and verify their Customs Codes.

We have experienced several more incidents over the past week where customs entries were rejected due to invalid importer codes and VAT numbers.

Please find below the official notification letters from SARS regarding the RLA process, VAT verification/validation, as well as a step-by-step RLA guide. We urge you to please take the time to read through these attachments as we have had numerous issues with clients who have not renewed and verified their Customs Codes as well as VAT Numbers, which has resulted in shipments being held up at the time of customs clearing and therefore resulting on the import side with storage being billed by airlines / shipping lines..
